Åsa Lövberg, visionary, designer and designer with color, form and function as pronounced specialties. Strongly aware of the environment since childhood, she lives today in a charming turn-of-the-century house in Sundbyberg, where the garden is shaped according to her own mind and the laws of nature.
"During the daily chores in the garden, I started thinking about the best and cheapest way for even better vegetation," says Åsa, who searched for vessels, pots, buckets and buckets of various kinds to collect, mix and spread the golden water. Since they were all impractical, unhygienic and uncomfortable, she decided to invent something of her own. Hence the pot of gold.

” Something to sit on in the bathroom. It should be comfortable. Cover so that it stays tight and does not smell. Practical and easy to carry. And stylish with the highest quality through and through, Guldkannan Towa! "
The products we manufacture must replace those that are inferior or be innovations for the environment. To produce quantities of cheap goods and ship them half way around the world is to mismanage the Earth's resources. We like good quality, good design, morally defensible production and preferably locally produced. Human health also affects the environment. High class in all parts, good materials, professional know-how, minimal distribution and environmental impact, good service and ethical values are leading in our business. Locally produced in all parts by people with fair wages, we produce in Sweden.
2023 was the year for all media to write about golden water as something natural and valuable. In the footsteps of Covid19, the world has started to change its way of thinking about the environment and local produce has never been so hot. More and more people are paying attention to the importance of giving back what we take from the earth and sustainability is here. Many people move from the big cities to move out into the countryside and television programs such as Bonde Mitt i Stan are on TV. Guldkannan also figures in the book Den Lilla Farmen i Stan. Being self-sufficient in your own vegetables and managing home-grown produce is a clear trend.
Research shows that golden water is safe to use for fertilizing your garden. Read the whole article here!
Yes, these little rascals can arouse emotions in many garden owners. The wild boar burrows in the soil to pull up worms and roots, which causes damage in gardens and in agriculture. Should you scare them? Or put up barbed wire? No, we advocate humane methods and something that is very effective is gold water!
Fertilize with pee - that's how you make gold water: "It's great fun," writes Nyheter24.
Kissvatten, in finer words "golden water", is an effective way to make your garden flourish. The fact is that your urine works excellently as fertilizer - but it is important to both aim correctly and water moderately for best results.
Now in Expressen, Sara Bäckmo explains how good gold water really is!

Easily accessible and free! Golden water gives a good boost in the garden and in the crops.
A little background: The project had in June 2022-October 2022 a training for local people in the area of chepokat, (outside chepareria, outside Kitale in Kenya) on how to design, sow, harvest and maintain "rain watering harvest halfmoon shaped kitchen garden beds".
My task is to follow up how this education has been established and how it has spread in society, as well as investigate whether their dietary habits change with this opportunity, to be able to grow their own food. In order to spread more knowledge and improve the harvest, I will do a cultivation trial with one of the women who was very driven during the training and started to create her kitchen garden at once.
So what I will do starting on Monday is to water daily with 1 liter of pee and two liters of water in the crescent marked with a gold drop and 2 liters of water in the crescent marked with a blue drop, for comparison/control.
The focus in general is on finding local, cheap and easy solutions to grow food in this area as water is a limitation for most of the year.
4. Top up with water. Guldvatten is diluted with 1 part piss and 9 parts water.
Åsa (my mother) was very alone in the support she received to follow her dream. She had a vision and invested her house and finances to do what she believed in. People thought she was crazy when she said she would bet a million just on the tool that makes the Pot of Gold. When she went to investors, they were only men who gave offers like 80% of the company for SEK 100. But she didn't give up, worked for free for 000 years to create something (in my opinion) great, innovative and ahead of her time.
It has been a tough few years. Åsa has worked without pay and puts her own money into the company. But she believes in the idea and is passionate about raising environmental awareness. She writes entries about earth, water, air and fire.
Vatten Avlopp Kretslopp is the annual meeting place for everyone who works with stormwater, VA planning and small sewers. In the year 2020, Guldkannan Towa© has been on the market for 10 years. That has meant almost 15 satisfied users a little everywhere on the globe. But WE are not quite satisfied. Many more should readjust their views on water, sewage, crops and fertiliser.
However, the journey from idea to finished product with manufacturing and sales is much longer. A persistent work with non-profit signs is everyday life and reality for our environmental project.
If the Guldkannan were in some chain store, the idea of circulation could be spread further and wider. We are waiting for an invitation from some chain that does not only look to profit and sky-high margins in the first place, but to the benefit of people, animals and the entire planet - now and over time. Go from fine words to action best trader. Warm welcome!

It is expected to be extra popular to be shown in summer cottages this year, which can mean a heavy pressure on often small and simple sewage systems. But there is one place that is happy to share in the family kiss instead: The garden. Here are tips on how to use urine to make your plants happy.
Inga Herrmann, sewage researcher at Luleå University of Technology, tells us that urine contains nutrients that plants like, including potassium, phosphorus and nitrogen. To avoid an unpleasant smell, you can mix the urine with wood ash from, for example, the fireplace. But there is more to think about before you water the flowerbed with "golden water".
In the clip, you will hear how you can use urine in cultivation while relieving the drain of the summer cottage!
Erica Larsson, July 2, 2020, SVT NEWS NORRBOTTEN
"Then I get up very early, long before the family wakes up. In underpants and a nightgown, I paw out into the garden. It is only steps away to the large greenhouse.
When I open the door, I'm faced with a wall of warm and humid air. It smells of healthy soil and ripening vegetables and fruits. I have wood chips on the ground between the vegetable beds in the greenhouse. And on it is my potty. It is a combined watering can and pot, with a heart-shaped red lid. And there I sink down with a sigh and do what you do on potties in the morning.”

To pee in the shower or not... that is the question! This is how we relate to "gold water" - Nordegren & Epstein in P1 | Swedens radio
SVT has also discovered the benefits of golden water as plant nutrition in the garden.
It is completely incomprehensible how much nutrients we just release into lakes and waterways. When it can go to this. Again cycle! Says Bella Linde and Gunnel Carlson.
Can Swedish quality production manage in Ullared? Probably not, but we had the opportunity to show how easy it is to make an effort for our Earth. Many in Ullared realized that free plant nutrition was cheap anyway.
It was then decided on the spot and Bajsmemo won. See the entire program on Kanal 5 Play. Of course, the Guldkannan is too exclusive, ie too expensive at Ullared. Swedish production of professionals with fair wages and the highest quality in all parts costs more than high production in low-wage countries.
We are proud!

The gold jug, which has become a symbol of circulation, has now been around for seven years and has received around ten thousand satisfied users. Many people were interested in contributing to the environmental work but did not really know how. We inform about gold water and sell the Guldkannan through our website www.guldkannan.se. It works well and smoothly, but many people want to see the Guldkannan in real life and ask where they can buy it in a store. On the website we present our dealers.
Do you also want to display the Towa Guldkannan in your store? I want everyone interested in cultivation and the environment throughout the country to have the opportunity to see the Gold Jug in reality.
We would like to thank all the wonderful informants who made a fantastic effort during the fair days in 2017.
Hannan, Susanne, Annette, My and Linn could be met at Guldkannan's stand at Nordiska Trädgårdar. We are lucky to have such talented and nice girls to help! And of course the innovator and environmental activist who is also the inventor of the environmental product Guldkannan Towa, Åsa Lövberg.
The best and funnest stop at the garden fair was, of course, the Guldkannan stand!
Now that it's high time to drink gold, we are once again publishing information from Håkan regarding medications.
Emotions are hard to argue with, but here are some arguments:
1. Human urine contains much lower levels of hormones than cow and sow manure, because mammals, including humans, produce much more hormones when they are pregnant than when they are not. Cows and sows are pregnant almost all the time. When they are no longer pregnant, they are slaughtered. Only half of humans are women, and women only produce around 2 children per woman per lifetime, which means that barely 1,5% of the population should be pregnant at any given time. Calculations show that a hectare (10000 m2) fertilized with cow manure is supplied with 5 grams of estrogen, compared to 1 gram if fertilized with human urine. Organically fertilized crops are fertilized with more animal manure than conventionally grown crops, because conventionally grown crops are also fertilized with mineral fertilizers (artificial fertilizers).
See pages 16-17 about medications and urine fertilization >
2. Pharmaceuticals in the soil may seem frightening, but even for the most commonly used pharmaceuticals, the amount is small per hectare. Winker et al. (2009) calculated, for example, that the dose would be about 0,1 grams of oxytetracycline (antibiotic) per hectare. This can be compared to the fact that conventionally grown potatoes in Skåne in 2009/10 were treated with an average of 1,34 kg of active substance of herbicide and 2,53 kg of fungicide per hectare. This is about 38000 times greater than the amount of oxytetracycline, and there are just as many biologically active substances in the pesticides as in the antibiotics. The antibiotics are used to kill bacteria, herbicides to kill weeds and fungicides to kill molds. However, pesticides can be avoided if you buy organic food.
See page 18 of the report on urine and drugs >
3. Of course, you can release the drugs to the treatment plants, but the treatment plants do not break them down at all as effectively as the topsoil. In a report that will soon be published, we have calculated that if you drink 2 liters of water in Stockholm, you will ingest about one hundredth of the acceptable intake of oxazepam (a sedative). The acceptable intake is calculated as one 10000th of the minimum therapeutic dose, which means that the intake with 2 liters of water is 1 millionth of what you would at least get if you were prescribed it as medicine. The water in Stockholm can therefore be considered to be of good quality and with negligible risk. The medications found in Stockholm's drinking water are due to the fact that about 5% of Lake Mälaren's water consists of purified wastewater from Uppsala, Västerås and other cities. We have also calculated how much you should ingest from all the wheat that you consume in the form of bread, pizza, spaghetti, etc. wheat was fertilized with urine and feces. We concluded that then you would ingest between a tenth and a hundredth as much as you would ingest if you drank 2 liters of Stockholm water per day. And then the drugs would not get into the water and affect fish and other parts of the ecosystem, but would mainly break down in the soil.
So the facts say that it is much worse to release the urine to sewage treatment plants than to use it as fertilizer. But whether these facts prevail over the emotions, I don't know. Many people are more afraid of flying than of driving, even though there is a much greater risk of dying when driving a car than when flying...
Kind regards,
Håkan Jönsson, professor of cycle technology.
Vänliga hälsningar,
Hakan
Toilet waste is a major environmental problem in both seas and lakes, because urine contains a lot of phosphorus and nitrogen, which contribute to eutrophication. In 2015, it was therefore forbidden for boats with toilets to dump waste into the water, and at the same time the leisure marinas were obliged to provide emptying stations.
Now Sweden's Radio P4 Halland reports that the transport board has realized that they may have had the wrong focus, because only a fifth of the roughly 700 Swedish boats have toilets on board.
- The majority do not have a toilet but perhaps use a bucket or a bucket, says Lina Petersson, expert on the environmental issues of boating at the Swedish Transport Agency to SR. Lina Petersson hopes that many boat owners go ashore to fulfill their needs, but fears that this is not the case. The Swedish Transport Agency and the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency must now look for alternative solutions for boat owners, for example shore toilets.
The watering can has a particularly large, heart-shaped opening to collect the urine labeled as "gold water" and dilute it with water. A thought that is particularly applicable in small businesses.
Everything that plants need for growth.

The gold jug was invented in 2009 by Åsa Lövberg. In the early years, not many people talked about gold water even though the fertilizer has been used for thousands of years to increase crops like many people. Like so many other inventions, the Guldkannan was invented based on a need. The reason that people didn't talk about it in the same way as now may be precisely that it easily feels repulsive to first pee in a container that you then pour into a watering can and then mix with water. From this, Åsa produced a prototype of a potty and watering can in one. Then you could easily sit down and then fill up with water without spillage or inconvenience.
Below are some of the events in Guldkannan's life that will later lay the foundation for an accepted and appreciated product and company.
The gold jug Towa and its inventor Åsa Lövberg recently received Sundbyberg's environmental award for their commitment to environmental issues, for increased knowledge and sustainable development!
The motivation was:
"Guldkannan AB has worked for increased knowledge of environmental issues and for sustainable development in the City of Sundbyberg. They have a great commitment to environmental issues and have been active for many years. With their activities, they create both tools and meeting places and make it possible for everyone to participate in local environmental work. Guldkannan AB shows that it is easy to do the right thing."

Swedish researchers have developed the perfect recipe for plant nutrition. But none of the most common brands have the right balance, Testfakta's test shows. Several products also cause unnecessary emissions into nature.
PUBLISHED JUNE 15, 2012 BY: MARTIN HANSSON
- It is strange that the manufacturers do not follow the scientific studies that exist in the field, says Tom Ericsson, docent and researcher at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, SLU.
Together with his colleagues at SLU, after a long period of research, he has arrived at the perfect nutritional balance for plants and flowers.
- The nutritional needs of plants are very similar and the balance between different substances should really be the same in all fertilizers. It also means that the special nutrients for different plants, which are becoming increasingly common, are completely unnecessary, he says.
In order to find out what the balance between different substances looks like in some common products of liquid plant nutrition, Testfakta sent ten products to the chemistry laboratory ALS in Täby for analysis. All tested nutrients are recommended for the garden, some also for the balcony and pot.
If you follow SLU's recipe for how a good plant nutrition should be composed, the result is quite disappointing. None of the products examined have a good balance. They have deficits or completely lack certain substances, while you have too much of others.
This need not be a concern as long as you grow outdoors in regular clay soil. Most Swedish soils are relatively mineral-rich from the start. The problems arise when using potting soil or growing in sand.
- The nutrients in bag soils can run out in just a few weeks and then the balance in the nutrient solution becomes really important, says Tom Ericsson.
- A lack of, for example, potassium, magnesium, manganese or iron can have a devastating effect on growth and means that the plants are more easily attacked by pests.
Farthest from SLU's recipe is Granngården's liquid plant nutrition. The product has a deficit of between 63 and 99 percent of eight of the twelve substances examined. Even Giva Biobact and Plantagens Gödning for summer flowers have large deficits right through. The plantation's nutrition still gets an okay final grade thanks to the high nitrogen content. The nitrogen content shows how much nutrition the bottle contains per liter.
But not only deficits of various nutrients are a problem. Tom Ericsson is even more concerned about products with large excesses of certain substances. An excess means that the plant cannot absorb the substance, which instead leaks into nature and can negatively affect the environment. Vitagro, for example, has an excess of zinc of almost 600 percent and Giva Biobact, which is organic and certified, has an excess of sulfur of 539 percent.
- It is very unbalanced. Sulfur in large quantities can have an acidifying effect. And zinc is a heavy metal that is quite toxic. I don't understand why they add so much of these substances, says Tom Ericsson.
The fact that several products have relatively large excesses of phosphorus is also not good. The worst is Plantagen's Fertilizer for summer flowers with 168 percent.
- Phosphorus is a vital but finite resource that should not be used unnecessarily. Phosphorus that is not taken up also leaks into our waterways and causes them to grow back faster.
Tom Ericsson is also critical of the dosage instructions on the packaging. If you follow the manufacturers' recommendations, you end up with a nitrogen content of between 300 and 400 milligrams of nitrogen per liter of water for most brands. But with Plantagen's organic nutrition, the specified dose gives a whopping 1175 milligrams and with Granngården 827 milligrams of nitrogen per liter.
- Our experiments show that 50-100 milligrams of nitrogen per liter of water is quite sufficient for most plants. Adding around a thousand milligrams is completely indefensible and can in the long run lead to harmfully high nutrient concentrations in the soil.
As a consumer, you can therefore halve or reduce the dose even more from the manufacturers' recommendations. And thus save both money and the environment.
The gold pitcher Towa©, which has become the symbol of cycles, can now summarize this year's season, which was very successful. Another 1250 people have contributed to the environmental work so far this year, received free plant nutrition and a comfortable potty. We welcomed fifteen stores as retailers, see attached advertisement in Allt om Trädgård and Allers Trädgård.
The gold jug is a combination of a watering can and a mobile toilet and has happily been purchased by the Court Administration this year! There, too, they wanted to be able to make use of the golden water, which is the best and cleanest plant nutrient according to the researchers at SLU.
See, among other things, the fact sheet from the Swedish Garden Association.
The Guldkannan has received design, material and environmental awards and is represented at both the Technical and Nordic Museums. Full Swedish; Idea, design, patent and manufacturing. A solid product down to the smallest detail and a sharp contribution to the environmental debate.
The gold jug is sold through the website to the whole country (and the rest of the world). Many people ask if the Guldkannan is available in stores, they would like to see and feel the Guldkannan in real life, in terms of size, ergonomics, quality, color and shape. That's why we want you to sell the Guldkannan in your store!
For the rest of the year, we offer shipping as a welcome gesture. Your price will be SEK 350 + VAT per piece. and the consumer price with us is now SEK 695. You also get a digital sign to print in different formats. We work with PR and advertise regularly throughout the next year. We are active on social media with successful results. The message is to inform about all the advantages of having your own cycle in everyday life.
As a retailer, you are included in the advertising and on the website.
The cardboard in which the Guldkannan is shipped is like a gift box in itself and works great for displaying in stores. I recommend that you take home at least four Gold Jugs (they are packed two by two) so that the Gold Jug is properly visible.
You are welcome to contact us about how many jugs you want to take home. And take the opportunity to try one yourself, comfortably and practically!
Guldkannan Towa is part of a long-term project where the values are based on the environment and ethics.

Sweden Water Research: Time to invest in source sorting of urine and black water.
A small success for anyone with a garden, balcony, allotment, guest room or wherever you need an extra toilet.
By filling up with water directly in the jug, you have the best and purest plant nutrition available. Advanced research is ongoing. "Golden water" has been used since ancient times - it was something valuable and not something to be washed away.
Guldkannan was launched in 2009 and has since received both environmental and design awards. Towa is also one of the stars of the Technical Museum's exhibition "Women's Inventions", which is on tour in selected countries.
The company has only this product and is growing slowly but surely. We are approaching five thousand Gold Jugs, sold almost exclusively through the website and in many countries to very happy and satisfied users. Everyone feels that they are doing something for the environment, a small cycle of their own in their everyday life.
The gold pitcher Towa is for the creator an environmental project and she places great emphasis on high quality in the smallest detail and of course Swedish production.
This year we are approaching 9 satisfied users, some of them are the Swedish castle! We wish that even more people find the Jug of Gold this season, if not for the financial aspects then for the Earth's sake. And for our waters that are already over fertilized.

The gold jug is a success at Nordiska Trädgårdar. Never before have so many pee jugs been sold already in the first two days at the Stockholm fair. Television and radio draw attention to the Guldkannan for its amazing properties to nourish the earth. Those who want to come to Nordic Gardens this weekend are warmly welcome to visit stand C03:35!
In many gardens, urine from one's own family is used regularly or occasionally as an effective fertilizer. But it has rarely been written about and there has been a lack of instructions and advice. For this reason, the National Recreational Sports Organization FOR has, at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, SLU, financed both experiments and fact-gathering on how urine from humans can best be used as plant nutrition.
The gold jug Towa©, which has become the symbol of circulation, has now been around for six years and has found around seven thousand satisfied users. It turned out that a lot of people were interested in contributing to environmental work, but didn't really know how. The gold jug is a combination of watering can and mobile toilet to conveniently use the gold water, which is the best nutrition for all plants according to the researchers at SLU. Towa has received both design and environmental awards and is represented at both the Technical and Nordic Museums.
We sell the Guldkannan through our website www.guldkannan.se and it works well and smoothly, but many people want to see the Guldkannan in real life in a store before they decide. So this year we are linking directly to those who sell the Gold Jug and I hope that you are also interested in joining, by selling in your nice shop that I found online.
Fully Swedish; The idea and design are mine and the manufacturing takes place in Eskilstuna. A solid product down to the smallest detail and a sharp contribution to the environmental debate.
I wish for widespread distribution throughout the country so that everyone will have the opportunity to see the Guldkannan in reality, so I am now offering the shipping as a welcome gesture. You also get a digital sign to print in different formats. The cardboard, which is a piece of jewelry in itself, also works excellently as sign material. I recommend that you bring home at least three Gold Jugs so that they are noticed in the shop.
